The Singing Stone

Author(s): Gary Venn

NZ Fiction

It looks ordinary enough - just a smooth, red stone that Miles finds buried in gravel by the river. Until the singing starts. And then the stone begins to glow . . . Miles is impatient to explore his new surroundings after his parents buy a motor camp on the Coromandel Peninsula. But the unsettling discovery of the stone propels Miles into danger. He tries talking to his new friend Oliver about it, who naturally doubts him. Then he mentions it to Melinda, the girl he meets at the camp - at least she appears to believe him - but it's possible Melinda isn't quite what she seems. Slowly, Miles starts to understand for himself what the stone is capable of. How it changes everything it touches. And how someone is looking for it, calling to it. Wanting it back.
